Poultry
Drinking Water
Water is involved in every aspect of the poultry metabolism. It plays important roles in regulating body temperature, digesting food and eliminating body wastes. At normal temperatures, poultry consumes at least twice as much water as feed. We know how necessary it is to clean and disinfect surfaces, but cleaning and disinfecting the water lines of the poultry house is at least as important. Cleaning the water lines means removing the scale and the biofilm. This biofilm is a layer that is formed inside the water lines, partially caused by adding vitamins, medication etc. to the water.
Biosecurity
Biosecurity internal and external
Biosecurity is not about targeting on one or two possible contamination risk factors and hoping you have made the right choice. Biosecurity is about controlling and addressing a whole series of little critical points.
Acidification
Acidifying the drinking water can help to improve the quality of the ‘forgotten nutrient’. It not only increases the quality of the drinking water by lowering the bacterial load but it also can result in improved performance of the animals.
Essential oils
Adding essential oils to the animal feed leads to a number of beneficial effects on animal performance. Weight gain, feed efficiency and improved health protection in general, are all considerable advantages attributed to the use of essential oils. In Addition, essential oils to the diet leads to strong antioxidant activity and a stronger anti-bacterial effect through the synergistic action with organic acids.
